SLACKLINE

Can I choose any slackline to start with or are there any differences?

The best Slacklines to start with are the White Line 15 or a Training 18, which guarantee simplicity for walking, thanks to the low elasticity and the width of the line (50 mm). Obviously, once you have acquired the right confidence, you can move on to more demanding lines for longer walks or spectacular evolutions such as longlines of 25mm. If, on the other hand, you feel ready to do some jumps, we recommend starting with an “elastic” Pro 20 slackline or a Trick 25.

Buona slack!

What is the weight of the differents PRIMITIVE SLACKLINE LIGHT (25 m), with or without options ?

I'd like to try walking on a Slackline: how to start?

To practice slacklining, first you must have a suitable line.

Get a Spider Slacklines’ White Line 15! This line is ideal for those who have never practiced this discipline and with is regular elasticity will allow you take immediate feeling with this sport. Once you get the line, find two strong supports (e.g. two trees) and anchor your Slackline.

Expert tip: Remember, however, that even without trees you can use your Slackline. Now you know how to get started: read the questions and you'll find all the answers about the set up (see question n. 7).

hello, when the slack line (outdoor kit without any tree) is installed, wht is the actual length on which we can walk and what weight can support this slack line ? Thank you for your answer.

The maximum weight this kit can support is 80 kg. You need a solid groud to reach that value, if you have soft sand or snow it doesn't hold that much.
The suggested maximum lenght is 10 m from frame to frame. | CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM SPIDER SLACKLINE

Good morning, I would like to know what is the difference between the slackline-custom line 15mt and the white line 15 mt. Thank you.

Custom line and white line are both very good lines to start.

With Custom line you can choose the variable length between 15 and 35m.

With White line you have a fixed length of 15m but you have in addition the accessories bag and ratchet protector.

Good slack

Can it be mounted on trees with 2.5m and 3m circumference?

Hello,

The side without the ratchet can comfortably embrace trees 2.5m or larger; The side with the ratchet embraces trees up to 220cm in diameter.

If you have both such large trees, you can buy a SLING BRAGA 1T VIOLET length 3M and a OMEGA 1.5T STAINLESS STEEL GRILL to hug even such large trees.

Hi, On your product description on your website, it says max load : 3 tons. On the product itself it says Max load : 1,5 tons. and it also says max 130Kg ! Could you explain a bit more about this ? Thanks.

Dear Customer,

  • 3 Ton is the MINIMUM BREACKING STRENGH VALUE OF WEBBING
  • 1,5 Ton is the MAXIMUM WORKING LOAD OF WEBBING during trickline peak session
  • 130 kg is the MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF USER  to jump on a slackline under tension.

So in example if the webbing is tension at 1 TON and a user of 100 KG jump on the webbing heavily, he can sure reach the max working load of 1,5 TON

thanks

Can I use it for tricklines ? I have the Mandingo SR and I need an other cliquet... This one could be ok ?

Hello!
If you are using a set up with extreme tension (More than 20m webbing at 1T tension), we advise to go for a stronger ratchet like HUMMER RATCHET or MANDINGO;
If you are tricklining below 1T (Less than 20 m long walkable line) then it's ok to use the WHITE RATCHET.

What if I don’t want a beginners' Slackline? . . .

If you already have a beginner line, get longer.

You can choose the Training Line, 18 m long and 50 mm wide. If you think that even in this way it is too easy considering your skills, opt for the 25-mm-wide Longline Kit, like the Fly 35 Line which extends up to 35 m and will enable you to use greater length.

Expert tip: A Longer Slackline gives more satisfaction, but it’s also more challenging. We remind you that the line can be adjusted at will.

Is there is a minimum diameter of the tree to anchor the Slackline? . . .

Remember that anchoring to trees, poles and other fixed points, are subjected to a different strength depending on where Slackline run its strength. The higher you'll position the webbing, the stronger the force exerted on tree. The diameter of the support (e.g. the tree) must therefore be chosen considering these three factors: the length of the line, the height at which the same is located and the power depending on the weight and the movements of the slackliners. Minimum diameter is 30 cm.

Expert tip

Spider Slacklines suggests using eco-friendly tree protection to avoid excessive pressure on the tree and protect the bark. If you do not have trees with a diameter larger than 30 cm, you should set the line as close as possible to the base of the tree trunk. Then use the appropriate stands to lift the Slackline. In this way, it will reduce greatly the force applied on the tree.

Can I choose any Slackline kit to start slacklining? Can I choose any Slackline kit to start slacklining? . . .

How to start practicing Slackline: slacklines are not all the same. That’s why we offers a wide range of specific products for each category.

Best Slackline to start with are Spider White Line 15 or 18 Training, easy walking due to low elasticity and the width of the line (5 cm). Of course, once you get the right confidence, you can pass move to more challenging lines for long walks or for spectacular tricks. If you feel ready for the walk on the line and for some jumps, then you are ready to start using the "elastic" Slackline Pro 20 or Trick 25. These are undoubtedly more challenging, but fun is guaranteed!

I'd like to try walking on a Slackline: how to start? . . .

To practice slacklining, first you must have a suitable line.

Get a Spider White Line 15!

Now you know how to get started.

You can choose in example the Training Line 18 m long and 50 mm wide.

We remind you that the line length can be adjusted at will.

Are there any differences between the "elastic" slacklines and the normal one? . . .

Yes, there are differences between webbins.

In fact, these lines have different features for different users and needs. For example, the Spider Pro 20 and Trick 25 have a greater elasticity and therefore require a greater body control. In other words, this kind of line is more suitable for those who have a bit of experience. On the contrary, the White 15 and Training 18 give more confidence and have a lower difficulty: that’s why they are ideal especially for beginners.

Expert tip

When you choose your Slackline, consider the main use you will do.

I saw the 25-mm webbing: is there a big difference of between the 25-mm Slackline and the 50-mm one? . . .

Yes, the 25-mm (1 inch) Slackline is more challenging than the 50-mm (2 inches) one.

The first provides a greater contact surface, therefore it’s more suitable for a beginner. For long distances (more than 30 m), however, only the 25-mm lines are suitable for walking. This narrow webbing allows you to have a greater sensitivity. In fact, thanks to the reduced thickness (just 1 inch) the foot comes out slightly from the edges of the line, and force you to position better on it.

Expert tip

Before ordering the webbing, it’s necessary to consider the use and the need. A beginner who does not walk long distances, would walk better on a 50-mm (2 inches) line. On the contrary, the 25-mm (1 inch) line will be more suitable for an expert longliner.

In this way, it will reduce greatly the force applied on the tree.

What if I do not have two trees for the Slackline? . . .

With the Spider OUTDOOR KIT, this is no longer a problem: even without two anchors (such as trees), you’ll be able to use your Slackline in Outdoor.

Expert tip

Spider OUTDOOR KIT is specifically designed for outdoor environments. You can easily anchor the fix plate to the ground and adjust the line at three different heights, using a frame.

Can the Slackline withstand the weight of a 90-kg person? . . .

Sure: Slackline is made of high tenacity polyester and provides excellent resistance: up to 1,500 kg of working load! The resistance of the webbing is fundamental: we want to ensure the safety of our slackliners. In this way, we guarantee resistance even for the most extreme tricks and jumps on the line.

Expert tip

Do you want more information on the security systems designed for slackline? Check the BACKUP KIT page in our website.

What if the Slackline wraps at one ratchet side, scratching the edge; does it mean that it's defective? . . .

It doesn’t mean that your Slackline is broken or defective. When you get more familiar with the Slackline’s ratchet, you won’t have to think about the wrong wrapping anymore.

Expert tip

Check the 50-mm wide webbing, sewn on the ratchet bolt: it must be in the center position when tensioned. Make sure that the webbing is not displaced on one of the two sides, because it will tend to twist. Then check the long webbing, which is inserted into the ratchet roller slot: it must be absolutely cantered as well. After the first ratchet pulling, check again the alignment of both webbing on the ratchet. Make manually adjustments, moving the webbing right or left. If even after the re-alignment the webbing position is wrong, open the Slackline’s ratchet and start from beginning. You will soon get confident with this and won’t think about that anymore!

Which is the right tension to prevent the ratchet’s breaking? . . .

The ratchet can’t be broken just by hand: Spider Slacklines guarantees, in fact, a working load of 1,500 kg! In any case, there isn’t a right or wrong tension, but only the one that each slackliner prefers. Slackline’s world is full of exercises: this means that it requires commitment, effort and many attempts: different tensions will help you to find the best match for your workout.

Expert tip

If you are interested in a line without tension, the Rodeo Line is the answer! Set the Slackline’s ends at a height of two meters, at least (depending on to the length of the line), without tension: it will be very slack and will form a U shape. Try the balance exercises on it! The webbing is completely slack, free from any tension, like a hammock. Discover the thrill of walking a Rodeo!

How often should I replace my Slackline? . . .

Before you set up your Slackline, it is good to check if you must replace your webbing: you should consider the frequency of use. With regular use (once a week), the Slackline should be replaced after 1 year. The life of the webbing depends on several factors: the use (or misuse), the contact with water (especially if salted water), the exposure to the sun, the atmospheric agents, the temperature, the dust and the dirt. If your webbing has abrasions greater than 2 mm, you must replace it immediately. When you don’t use your Slackline, keep it clean, in a dark and dry place.

Expert tip

It’s fundamental, when you learn how to mount a slackline, to check the correct wrapping of the webbing into the ratchet roll. It is equally important that the line does not rub against trees, rocks, etc. Therefore, we recommend you to use always the tree protections.

Can I wash my Slackline?

Our Slacklines webbing are all washable. To clean your Slackline just soak in warm water with a bit of soap (a not aggressive one), leaving aside for about one hour; after that, you will need to rinse it well under running water. Expert tip Do not put it in the washing machine with the spinning: there’s the risk to ruin the rubber printed on the surface. Do not dry your Slackline in the sun.

I started slacklining but with a lot of efforts since the beginning...how can I do?

Slacklining is a beautiful sport but it requires commitment and perseverance, especially at the beginning. As well as other disciplines, you start as a beginner before becoming an expert! We suggest you proceed step by step. By enjoying yourself, it will be half done! Remember that it is not only a matter of balance, but also a matter of concentration! Be positive and believe in it!

Can I fix the Slackline safely, without affecting the anchor point?

Yes, you can fix the rope between two trees without affecting the anchor. The Slackline always applies a high pressure on the anchor point (trees or other fixed points used); we recommend, therefore, to always check on them before using the Slackline. If you have doubts about their strength, it is always better to fix the Slackline at their base (of a tree or pole) and lift the line with one of our frame stands: in this way, with a simple lever, you will reduce much of the force of the Slackline. Expert tip If you see a minimum risk in installing a webbing between two trees (or other support), it is always better to avoid that set up. In that case, you can anchor to the ground through our OUTDOOR KIT No-Trees, rather than risk incurring in damages or injuries.

My Trickline is not bouncing, I want to jump as shown in the videos; how can I do that?

The Slackline tricks that you see in our videos, are made using a Slackline PRO or TRICK, and are performed by professionals, using the same items available in the shop. For proper execution of the tricks, it is necessary that the slackliner have appropriate experience; not only: the webbing must have the right tension. Expert tip To improve your technique in the execution of the Slackline tricks, you should watch the Slacklines Flash Trick Series, check the website or you tube. To tension your Trickline, you'll need two ratchets, one for each end of the webbing: pull the smallest ratchet first and after the bigger one - HUMMER or MANDINGO. Remember to do always the BACKUP. Pay great attention to the set-up, make sure it's done correctly, as described in the manual.

How can I fix the other ratchet on the tree?

To correctly fix the second ratchet to the tree, you'll need a Spider round SLING and a SHACKLE to link to the ratchet: in this way, you’ll be able to perform your tricks safely, worrying just about creating new incredible tricks!

What is a BACKUP for Slackline and Trickline?

The Slackline and Trickline BACKUP system it’s a static rope that ties the ratchet to anchor and doesn’t involve any tension. It is a professional security system: it eliminates any possibility of "eject" of the metal parts in case of accidental collapse of the system. Expert tip Always use the BACKUP Kit, to make secure your Slackline and Trickline during your tricklining.

When I strive to the maximum my Slackline, it happens to fill up the ratchet roll; how can I avoid it?

When you use your webbing Slackline for Trickline, we recommend you to use always two ratchets; if possible, choose MANDINGO. Expert tip If you realize you have overfilled the ratchet, open it and start again using some hand pre-tensioning.

If the Slackline or Trickline tension is too much, is there the risk of ruining the ratchet?

No, it is not risky for the Slackline or Trickline: the professional ratchets Spider, however, requires precision and commitment. Expert tip Trigger always a single ratchet metal tooth at a time, to guarantee that the gear wheels lock each time, especially at high tensions.

Why should I use two ratchets?

No, it is not risky for the Slackline or Trickline: the professional ratchets, however, requires precision and commitment. Expert tip Trigger always a single ratchet metal tooth at a time, to guarantee that the gear wheels lock each time, especially at high tensions.

How to choose between the ratchet HUMMER and MANDINGO?

First consider the use you intend to make. HUMMER is a compact and powerful ratchet: ideal for your jumps and in case you're just entering the Trickline’s world. Otherwise, if you already have experience and want to improve the evolutions’ level, we recommend the Super MANDINGO: tested by our experts, it’s the maximum to practice seriously tricklining. Expert tip To unleash the full potential of your Trickline and to find the best tension, use two MANDINGO with at least one Soft Release: you'll have a much higher margin tension during your training sessions; not just that: you’ll also avoid the risk of filling both the rollers of the pawls.

I have a Trickline and I want to use two ratchets; do I have to cut the end loop of the line?

No, it is not necessary to cut the end loop of webbing. To use two ratchets just insert all the webbing in the first ratchet and take it to the second ratchet’s slot. When you bring your Trickline to the second ratchet, insert only the first 20 cm of the webbing in the ratchet’s slot: you will save webbing thickness in the ratchet while tightening.

What if I do not feel safe to jump on the line without mattress?

Instability is part of the game, especially at the beginning! To make progress, if you prefer, you can put some gym mattresses below the line. Expert tip If you are afraid of falling off your Trickline, you should learn the dismount trick, placing your hand on the ground in the swing low point (starting from the sitting position, the butt bounce). This simple movement, once mastered, will allow you to save yourself in the worst situations! Remember that before learning how to jump, it is important to learn how to fall safely.

How can I do if I want to improve my tricklining?

No, it is not risky for the Slackline or Trickline: the professional ratchets, however, requires precision and commitment. Expert tip Trigger always a single ratchet metal tooth at a time, to guarantee that the gear wheels lock each time, especially at high tensions.

I can do the butt bounce and chest bounce, but now I’m stuck on new tricks: how can I find new ideas?

The discipline of tricklining is amusing because it needs imagination, as well as physical skills. If you run out of ideas for your personal challenges, try the movements shown in our videos. How many meters of line can I tension with 2 ratchets?

Using two ratchets, you can tension up to 50 m. The right Longline Kit for this is Fly Line 50 m. Discover other Longline Kits and the rest of the equipment, available in the dedicated section of our website. You will find the perfect line you are looking for, and all the useful complementary accessories!

Which Longline should I choose if I have bit of experience and I want to walk more than 50 m?

Usually we recommend starting with Longline Fly Line, but if you feel ready to increase the difficulty, consider other webbing: for example, Tender, Zao or Joker. Study carefully the features of each one and find the one that fits your style and your needs. Each webbing has a different elasticity: this affects the in walking difficulty. Expert tip Remember that the right Longlines for long walks are always the 25-mm ones.

Why should I use a Slackline pulley system?

You must use a pulley system in longlining: the pulley system ensures you high power of tensioning for greater lengths. The ratchet used for Slacklines and Tricklines isn’t suitable for longlining over 50 m. Expert tip Find the pulley system suitable for your needs, by visiting our website section.

Can I do longlining just with line lockers and without using a pulley system?

If you prefer not to have pulleys in your Longline Slackline setup, we recommend you use the MOUSEGRIP along with a second tree sling. Expert tip Add a Longline SOFT RELEASE to detention your Longline webbing at the end of the training.

Can I use a double line instead of a single?

Absolutely yes: longlining on a double webbing setup is a great workout! Heavier your slack (g/m) will be, the more efforts you’ll need to control its oscillation. Expert tip We have wide range of Longline webbings to choose the right one for you, each with different features, JUMBO line is a very heavy one :)

Is there a special Slackline webbing for the Rodeo Line?

To play the Rodeo, there is not a specific Slackline webbing. It is sufficient to choose aconfortable line with a low elasticity: an example is the Joker Line. Expert tip Change as much as possible the type of line you use: only in this way your Slackline skills will improve significantly!

What does it change between polyester and nylon Slackline?

Most of the longline webbing are made of polyester: this because it is easier to tension. On the other hand, the nylon lines are much more elastic: at the same tension, nylon stretches up to 50% more than the polyester! Expert tip For a better use of a nylon Longline, use them over a land with depressions; the nylon webbing has a greater bounce than polyester. They are good, to practice highlining and waterlining: limit the stress on the anchors and reduce the risk of cuts and abrasions.

Can I set up a system by myself when I practice Highline for the first time?

A Highline set up CAN NEVER BE DONE WITHOUT THE HELP OF AN EXPERT HIGHLINER or expert mountain guide. Remember the high risks related to the Highline. Discover all professional Spider safety tools for highlining!

Where can I find some highlining experts?

First of all, check in the Slackline Highline Community of your city: you will know the meeting places and you’ll have the chance to train with other people. If you can’t find a local guide, contact us: we will help you with further researches.

Can I use my Slackline ratchet to do highlining?

No, the Slackline ratchet is not suitable for highlining. Use always the Highline equipment! In fact, the ratchet could suddenly open if used in highlining conditions, with very dangerous consequences, including death. Expert tip Use only gear that are specifically indicated for the use in Highline.

If I do not have special forged high-load rings, can I use a carabiner?

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE A COMMON CARABINER: it is not designed to work in the highlining conditions and it’s not suitable for Highline. In fact, the carabiner nuts and gate would risk to break the line: the consequences could be tragic and fatal! Use only specific highlining equipment in the highlining section of our website are the safe solution to practice highlining!
