Polyester vs Nylon highline webbings
Highlines are mainly composed of two kind of synthetic fibers: polyester or polyamide, commonly nylon. Both materials have very high resistance properties. In particular, polyester is more resistant to traction and wear of UV rays, while Nylon has greater elongation, the fibers therefore make the webbing softer and more pleasant to body touch.
The highline webbing minimum strenght required
To date, there are no certification in the practice of highlines that impose minimum safety standards for the practice of this sport. Spider Slackline suggests to never use webbings with a breaking strength lower than 30 kN. This is not a value to guarantee the safety of the rigging system, but it is now days a standard between manufacturers to give a suggested minimum level for the safety for an a highline set up.
