Weblocks
To set a longline you need a linelock device. The simplest way is an aluminium ring with a carabiner to lock the webbing around itself.
There are also professional devices called weblocks, with banana shape, that locks the longline with fixed and mobile pins.
A well-designed weblocker retain over 90% of longline breaking strenght. In case you would use, instead of a weblock, a simple webbing knot, the webbing breacking strenght would drop 50% off.

Soft point longline is called when the slackline longline only have two weblocks in the system, without the tensioning system (i.e. pulleys).
To release the tension in a long line with soft point, a SOFT RELEASE is mandatory to avoid reconnect again a pulley system with brake.
