TAPELESS – No more tape!

Cords sewn onto the backup webbing to fix it without adhesive tape.

  • Material : Ø 2.5 mm polyester cord with high abrasion resistance;
  • Durability : robust cord designed to last as long as your webbing, with knots that won’t come undone by themselves;
  • Compatibility : compatible with all 20–26 mm webbings, any length;
  • Smoothness : slides smoothly under the leash ring or inside the banana during webbing retrieval;
  • Eco-friendly : eliminates tape waste in the environment.

WARNING : this product requires the simultaneous purchase of a LONGLINE WEBBING.
Choose an option equal to or longer than your webbing length. For example: select 125 m if your line is 120 m long.

If you are not happy with your purchase you can always return the product

TAPELESS – Let’s eliminate tape from nature for good

When connecting the backup to the mainline, we are usually forced to use adhesive tape — non-reusable, polluting and fragile — which often comes loose and ends up flying away or lost in nature.

With our TAPELESS technology, you can connect your mainline and backup using a thin cord and a simple shoelace knot.

Finally remove tape from your setups and free the environment from adhesive waste left behind in the mountains.

Is it dangerous for my webbing?

Even under intensive use, the webbing is not damaged by the cord because the friction point constantly shifts along the moving surface.

TAPELESS fixed at irregular distances to break resonance

TAPELESS has been validated using irregular spacing patterns along the length of the line to reduce wind-induced resonance. We offer optimized patterns for each line length (50, 75, 100, 125 m, etc.).

The longer the line, the greater the average spacing between knots (maximum 3.5 to 6.5 m for lines longer than 100 m).

Since spacing varies depending on line length, it is important to choose an option with a length equal to or greater than your webbing length.

Example: If your line is 80 m, choose the 100 m option. If your line is 160 m, choose the 175 m option.

Pricing decreases progressively according to the total length ordered.

Sliding mainline or sliding backup?

We always recommend a sliding mainline setup: cords (instead of tape) fixed on the backup and sliding along the mainline.

This ensures proper balancing of backup loops. With a sliding backup configuration, there is a risk that all loops tighten except one, which may become excessively large.

What is the best knot for TAPELESS?

We simply recommend a shoelace knot and making sure the loops are kept very small.

For a permanent rig, we recommend a double shoelace knot to ensure long-term durability under repeated stress.

Not all cords are equal

Our 2.5 mm cord offers extremely high abrasion resistance.

Testing showed that sliding does not damage the webbing (moving part), but it strongly affects the cord (static part). Only this specific model withstood a permanent rig of over 6 months without damage. Also this stiff cord ensure that the knots won't come undone with vibrations

TAPELESS slides perfectly inside bananas and under leash rings

The leash ring slides freely over these small cords and even in the event of a leash fall, there is no risk of tearing the connection.

The small diameter (Ø 2.5 mm) also allows the TAPELESS cord to slide smoothly inside the BANANA for webbing retrieval.

TAPELESS does not reduce the breaking strength (MBS) of your webbing

TAPELESS stitching has no impact on the breaking strength of your webbing.

Can I order TAPELESS on used webbing?

Yes, of course — as long as you follow the instructions on this page regarding our minimum webbing integrity requirements.

If you have any doubts, feel free to contact us with specific questions.

Important

We can only accept orders for webbing lengths equal to or shorter than the selected option.

Example: It is not possible to order 50 m of TAPELESS for an 80 m line. Please do not send special requests outside the proposed standard lengths.

    What is the 3 SIGMA MBS in the product data sheet?

    Hi! Does the 50 meter longline kit come with webbing that has 2 sewn loops? Thanks! SIGMA is an element of statistical calculations, which allows to display a products’ guaranteed strength value throughout its manufacturing process. Therefore, it is related to product safety.

    During the testing process, the greater the differences between the 10 recorded values, the higher turns out the sigma value.

    For example, for 10 carabiners tested, their ten recorded values are usually different and not the exact same:

    24,9 | 25,9 | 26,2 | 25,6 | 25,8 | 24,7 | 25,5 | 24,7 | 26,0 | 25,7 kN

    So which value to take into account to display the MBS (Minimum Breaking Strength) value?

    We first calculate the average:

    (24,9 + 25,9 + 26,2 + 25,6 + 25,8 + 24,7 + 25,5 + 24,7 + 26,0 + 25,7) / 10 = 25,5 kN

    We then calculate the variance:

    24,9 - 25,5 = - 0,6    (-0,6)2 = 0,36

    25,9 - 25,5 = - 0,4    ( 0,4)2 = 0,16

    ...and so on for the 10 measured values.

    We add those 10 results:

    0,36 + 0,16 + 0,49 + 0,01 + 0,09 + 0,64 + 0,064 + 0,25 + 0,04 = 2,68

    And we create the average:

    2,68 / 10 = 0,268

    The variance is even to : 0,268

    SIGMA (standard deviation) = square root of 0,268 = 0,5176

    The maximum value displayed on the carabiner would be:

    average of 10 carabiners = 25,5 kN

    SIGMA = - 0,5176

    ____________________________

    Displayed Value = 24,0724 kN

    What you should know in particular about the 3 SIGMA safety margin?

    We use the 3 SIGMA method to calculate the MBS.

    We multiply the SIGMA for 3 (this is why it is called “3 SIGMA”) to boost the prudency in the MBS calculation.

    Taking the 10 previous carabiners as an example:

    The average of those 10 carabieners is 25,5kN

    3 SIGMA (3 x 0,5176) = - 1,5528

    _____________________________

    Displayed value = 23,0472 kN
