The Art of Slacklining is a slackline handbook, a guide for those who want to learn more about slacklining in all its forms, from trickline to longline to highline.
Slackline is an activity that brings people together. In this guide I have always understood slackline as a sport or activity. Personally, I see it as a sport, but I recognise that some may disagree. I have already had this discussion with other people who see slackline as an activity too far removed from other sports to be defined as such. However, I believe that it is the concept of sport that must also adapt to activities so distant from the common team sports that we are used to associating with the definition of 'sport'. However, if I were asked what definition best describes the whole world of slackline, I would answer that it is an art. I like to remember that martial arts are, to all intents and purposes, called 'arts' and that, in English, a person who practices them is called a 'martial artist'. In this sense, slackline and martial arts (but not only those!) are very similar: I think slackline has more in common with martial arts than with a common sport." from the author's introduction

Sirio Izzo, born in Milan on 31 December 1986, dedicated himself to martial arts from an early age. He started practising judo at the age of 5, and discovered capoeira at 20. Since then, he has dedicated himself to sports and teaching, especially to children. He is a Judo and Game-Judo instructor, adapted for pre-school children. He discovered slacklining for the first time in Milan, at a performance by the legendary 'Frenchies', Julien Millot and Trancrede Melet, but only had the opportunity to try it in Brazil, in 2011. After returning from holiday, he devoted himself more and more to slacklining, travelling and meeting other practitioners, very few at the time. In 2013, together with two friends, he founded the Slackline Italia association and dedicated himself to spreading slacklining in our country. Every spring, he organises the 'Slackline Meeting Milano', one of the biggest gatherings in Italy, now in its fifth edition in 2016. Through the association, he also organises meetings, exhibitions and workshops to provide a point of reference for those approaching this sport.

consigliatissimo :)
