Sling spanset

The SPANSET round slings and the FLY sling

The SPANSET are roundsling used mainly as lifting straps. In slacklinining, the SPANSET roundslings are used to embrace the trees or connect to anchor points.

FLY sling are thin webbing rings, useful in anchoring situations at low tension such as with longlines of less than 50 m.

During set up it is very useful to have the TREE PROTECTION XL with velcro stripes that support the anchor sling during the tensioning.

0,5T ROPE SLING FOR SLACKLINES

Use the round slings with the proper "working angle"

SPANSET slings are used in the slackline mainly creating a "U" shape around the anchor, and joining the ends with a SHACKLE to connect to the PULLEY SYSTEM, the WEBLOCK or the RATCHET.

It is very important to know the sling's workload reduction factor based on its "working angle" when it is connected to the shackle. Carefully follow the specifications on the product label and check if the use you are making maintains the minimum safety ratio.

The protective sleeve of the SPANSET VS the lightness of the FLY round sling

SPANSET slings have a tubular structure: a nylon core and a protective polyester sleeve. They have a minimum elongation, a great resistance to mechanical work and abrasion stress, to be used in the most extreme conditions, in contact with bark, abrasive rocks, multi-bolts anchors, etc.

The FLY round sling are much lighter, easy to transport and excellent for the setup of a longline up to 50 m with medium-low workload. They are included in the PRIMITIVE system with carabiners. They must always be used around the tree forming a "U", with the carabiner or shackle to connect to the slackline.

How do I choose among resistance 0.5, 1 or 2 T? and between length 2 or 3 m?

Choose the 0.5T FLY sling (Break at 30 kN) for longlines up to 50 m or to connect auxiliary elements of a pulley system. Do not use them in tricklines.

1T SPANSET round slings (breaking at 70 kN) are the most versatile, have an incredible strength/weight ratio, and are excellent for highlines and tricklines, or with longlines and highlines from 50 to 150 meters.

2T SPANSET slings (breaking at 140 kN) are the most resistant and are recommended for extreme tricklines of 30 m in length with double ratchet, or for longlines of over 150 m.

Regarding the length, with the standard 2 meters you are able to work in most situations, but sometimes the trees are so large that they require 3 m long slings. Remember that all anchor sling can be adjusted in lenght by connecting one to each other, with a choke knot or with a connector such as SHACKLE.
